Super Variants Editor

The Super Variants editor provides a new way to create variants. Though a little harder to use than the standard Variants editor, it provides a huge amount of control over the value range of parameters.

The Super Variants editor uses the Animation Configurator to create not video animations, but fractal variants.

If you are comfortable with the Triangle Editor, you may find this type of variants creation easy to use.

Configure Variants

Open the Configurator to setup the value range of parameters.

Optional Tweak Script

Setup an optional Lua script to post-process the new fractals.

Roll Dice

Create a new batch of variants.

Render Mode

Play with fractal transparency and image layering.

Copy Animations `

Copies the animation segment to the Pasteboard.

Paste Animations

Overwrites the the animation segment by pasting from the Pasteboard.

Easy Way to Use Super Variants

Start with the Variant editor and create some variant fractals. Select one of the thumbnails, then click the Super Variants icon button at the bottom left edge of the window.

This opens the Super Variants window nicely prepopulated with the Keyframe Delta Segment. This gives you a great starting point for further mangling in the Super Variants editor.

Other Ways to open a pre-filled Editor

1. CrossBreeder. Uses CrossBreeder keyframes to pre-populate the Editor.
2. Variants. Pre-populates using the variant fractal and its original fractal.
3. Super Variants. Pre-populates using the variant fractal and its original fractal.
4. Keyframes. Pre-populates using first 2 selected thumbnails.
5. Homepage Make New & Scripted Random Tabs. Pre-populates using first 2 selected thumbnails.
6. Preview window. Pre-populates using first 2 keyframes.

In other places in the app, clicking on the Super Variants button, opens the Super Variants editor with an empty animation segment. Definitely the harder way.

Configure Variants

Click the Configure Variants button opens the animation configurator. Here 3 parameters have value ranges assigned to them. (Not all shown here.)

The Grid View button of the configurator opens this window. The Grid View makes it easier to see the parameter value ranges.

The From/To Editors button shows Keyframe 1, and the From + To
fractals. You can use the Triangle Editor to modify these.

After you are finished setting up the parameter value ranges, close the configurator. Then click Roll Dice button to get your variants.
