What is an eGPU (External GPU Enclosure) ?
It lets you use powerful Desktop graphic cards for rendering. (Note: GPU rendering requires a subscription.)
See link for more info. There are specific Hardware requirements.

I want to upgrade to FA 5, But I’d like know the price and terms of the GPU in app purchase feature. I’m going to be using the program on a 2012 iMac.
Thank you,
RJ
Disregard I found the information
AMD RADEON RX VEGA 64 SERIE
I have found different cards which of this series will work whit Fa5 and it works too with Fa4 ?
did not find one, only called AMD VEGA 64.
Which of the series is recommended and which is the fastest
thanks
AMD VEGA cards are high wattage and are very long
So many eGPU containers will not work
I used a Sonnet 650 and had success
Make sure your hardware supplier allows you to return the parts if you accidentally buy a too small, low wattage eGPU container
The AMD 580 cards are lower wattage and smaller and are good value
But they do not perform as well
Visit eGPU.io for the latest compatibility news as new hardware and Mac OS is updated frequently
Hi again, wich Card do you use and wit wich Mac Model, and wich OS X version?
I tested both AMD Radeon RX 480 and Radeon Vega 64 using a Sonnet 650 eGPU container.
Tested on High Sierra 10.13.4.
I have not tested it with Mojave yet.
Hi Steve,
Thank you! I have the new MacBook Pro 15″ 2018 with the
Radeon Pro 560X
do you think an external card is even faster?
FA5 and FA4 is not working properly on my new MacBook
High Sierra 10.13.6 MacBookPro15,1
Prozessortyp: Intel Core i7
Prozessorgeschwindigkeit: 2,2 GHz
Anzahl der Prozessoren: 1
Gesamtanzahl der Kerne: 6
L2-Cache (pro Kern): 256 KB
L3-Cache: 9 MB
Speicher: 32 GB
Boot-ROM-Version: 220.200.252.0.0
any Idee?
Since the Radeon Pro 560X has the same Polaris architecture as my 2016 MacBook Pro (Radeon Pro 460), the app should perform
similarly if the OpenCL/Metal drivers for the 2018 MBP are in good shape.
But as you have seen, those drivers are not. Since High Sierra’s final update was released this summer, those drivers will never be fixed.
So I suggest you install Mojave, as Apple will be making driver fixes on that OS version.
Hi Steve, thanks.
so Fa4 and 5 is working on Mojava wit the Radeon Pro 560X?
I just wanted to mention that the eGPU PowerColor with AMD RX 570 connected to my MacBook Air is working. I bought a used one from Amazon Warehouse because it allowed for easy return if it didn’t work. But looks like I am keeping it.
